Long flights can be terrible, and they’re even worse when you’re not properly prepared and not dressed for the occasion. That’s why it’s important to think ahead and ensure you can be as comfortable and relaxed as you possibly can be ahead of a long flight. And that’s precisely what we’re going to talk about today. So if you’re taking a long flight soon, here are some tips to get ready for it.

Don’t Leave Packing Until the Last Minute
First of all, you should try to make sure that you’re all packed up and ready to go well before you leave the house on the day of the flight. If you leave your packing until the last minute, there are all kinds of things that can go wrong and that’s not what you want at all. You don’t want to find you’re missing something or you need a bigger bag at the last minute, so prepare well in advance. Don’t forget to check for your boarding pass, passport, visa, travel insurance and some local currency cash.

Sleep Well the Night Before
The night before you take a long flight, it’s important to look after your body and give it the rest it needs. A long night’s sleep will make you feel a lot better. That doesn’t mean you can’t sleep more on the flight, but being rested and feeling good always makes travel easier and keeps your stress level low. You should also make sure that you’re keeping yourself properly hydrated.
Keep Things Loose
When it comes to packing for your next vacation, it’s usually a good idea to keep things relatively loose. You don’t want to wear clothes that make you feel like you can’t relax properly while you travel to/from the airport and on the place (especially if you’re flying overnight and plan to sleep during the flight).

Focus on Comfort
In terms of clothes you should wear on the flight, your focus really needs to be on comfort. Nothing is more important than making sure that you’re comfortable and relaxed at all times on your flight. So start out by finding the best undies that’ll offer you complete comfort, and from there choose loose-fitting clothes and nothing too restrictive for the rest of your outfit, as we discussed above.
Plan Your Timeline
Finally, you should try to make sure that you’re as clear as you can be about your timeline on the day of the flight. If you have a lot of time to spare when you get to the airport, you’ll be a lot less stressed about everything. If you have an early morning flight, consider booking an airport hotel (like Sofitel London Heathrow), which may seem like an indulgence but remember…a few extra hours of sleep can make all the difference to your mood!
Take the time to plan a schedule and make sure you’re not leaving yourself with not much time to make the gate on time.

As you can see, there are plenty of things you can do to make yourself a little more comfortable and fully prepared for the long flight ahead of you. It’s definitely a good idea to make the most of the tips and ideas that have been shared here today as each of them will serve you well in one way or another.
