Hello! Over the past four weeks I’ve had the chance to visit some of the most beautiful coffee shops in Australia and New Zealand, but before I get the chance to tell you all about them, let me share with you a review of a lovely café I regularly visit in London.
There is no shortage of good cafés around where I work in Clerkenwell, but I always welcome the opening of new ones, as it was the case with Timberyard at the beginning of the year.
Located on Old Street, within walking distance from the station and at the edge of the Silicon Roundabout, Timberyard is the perfect destination for local freelancers looking for a place to work. There are four stools by the window table as well as a cozy lounge area with sofas at the front: perfect to meet friends and clients. The tables at the back of the room are often busy around lunch time, but don’t despair as there is an additional seating area downstairs.
For me it’s a good spot to work on my photos during my lunch break, so I go there often.
The food selection at Timberyard ranges from breakfast dishes (granola, porridge, buttered toast and so on) to lunch ones, such as grilled sandwiches, soups, salads and quiches. I have tried their cheese and ham toastie (delicious!) and salads, but usually I just order a macchiato an sometimes a chocolate brownie too!
Timberyard uses a fruity and sweet coffee blend (called Jabberwocky) for all espresso based drinks. Single origin coffees are also on offer and are brewed using the Chemex.
I think Timberyard ticks all the boxes: great location, good drinks/food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Make sure to stop by if you are in the area!
