Food Markets in Rome: Campo de’ Fiori

27/12/2011

I am in Rome visiting the family and of course I am using all opportunities to take photos of my beautiful city.

One of my favourite parts of Rome is Campo de’ Fiori, literally “field of flowers”. It’s a square near Piazza Navona which hosts a fruit and vegetables market every day. I love the bright colours of pumpkins, tomatoes, mandarins, chili, fennels, roman artichokes and broccoli. The roman broccoli is so peculiar, it is often referred to as a “natural fractal”.

What are the typical vegetables or fruits of your hometown?

Very nice photos! It is very vibrant! And look at those chilis and vegetables incorporated in those colorful, elaborate floral arrangement, truly amazing.

My favorite fruit is the Mango from home in the philippines. I really don’t know how to describe it but it’s certainly different and much sweeter than the ones we have here stateside.

Happy 2012!

I wish we also had extravagant fruits in Italy or UK!! Especially mangos, my fiancé is Indian and always talks about the fresh mango juices you get in Mumbai in May!
