Arranging Gifts for Loved Ones While You’re Travelling

One of the perks of having globetrotting friends or family members is receiving surprise gifts, exotic souvenirs or postcards whenever they are travelling. If you are a travel lover, then you might know a thing or two about arranging the right gifts for your loved ones while on the road around the world. Here are a few ideas for gifts to deliver that are sure to be appreciated.

There are countless perks that come hand in hand with worldwide travel. You get to break free from the responsibilities of day to day life! Rather than spending every day in the same old routine, you can wave goodbye to commuting and the nine to five and you can experience the world instead. While you may be able to completely detach yourself from many usual commitments when you are travelling, you are also committed to your family and friends. You want to maintain your relationships with them and ensure that they know you are thinking about them, despite the distance. Most of the time we can achieve this by keeping in touch through messages and video calls.

When it comes to celebrating occasions and achievements, it may be a little more difficult to carry that out virtually. When you are near to your loved ones, you will celebrate occasions or achievements by meeting up, going to a restaurant together or meeting out for drinks. Of course, you can’t do this when you’re travelling overseas. So what can you do to show them that you are thinking of them or proud of them? The answer is arranging gifts to be delivered. Here are a few ideas that could inspire your choices and get the ball rolling!

Flower deliveries are easy to arrange no matter where you are in the world. As long as you have an internet connection (which I can assume you do seeing as you’re reading this post) and your loved one’s address, you can arrange a flower delivery! A bunch of flowers is the perfect way to brighten someone’s day and there are all sorts of flowers for all sorts of occasions. Take the occasion and your loved one’s tastes and preferences into account when ordering. Positive occasions can call for big and bright bunches, while sad occasions may call for more muted and minimalistic colours. If your loved one has a particular favourite flower, find a bunch of them. Try to make sure a card or note is included, where you can leave a loving message and let them know who the flowers are from!

A Balloon in a Box

This is a bit of a novelty gift, but it’s a cute idea for those you’d usually buy a celebratory balloon for. There are now a number of companies who will send a balloon in a box to your loved one on a special occasion. You can often choose from a variety of designs or even design your own balloon!

Purchasing gifts and sending them overseas can be pretty costly, so investing in a gift that can be emailed as a form of voucher is ideal if you are travelling far from the recipient. Experiences are a gift that can tick these boxes. Plus, an experience gift is bound to be fun and will ensure that they have a good day out thanks to you!

There are countless experience gifts available for them to choose from, so there’s bound to be something that they’ll enjoy. Whether that’s being able to drive a Vespa in Rome, fly in a hot balloon in Turkey, skydive in New Zealand, take a food tour in Prague, attend an event like a concert or festival, or anything else!

If you’re unsure of what to get your loved one, you can always fall back on vouchers. Nowadays, vouchers can get delivered straight to their inbox, ready for them to use. Most stores offer vouchers, so as long as you know their interests, you should be able to find something appropriate. If you’re not sure what they might want or like, you can always opt for a general voucher through a company that provides a wide variety of goods, like Amazon. If your loved one is a bit of a foodie, you can even get vouchers for meals at their favourite restaurant. This will provide them with a nice night out on you!

You might look at postcards and think they are a relic from a pre-Internet past and that no one sends them anymore. That’s true perhaps, but don’t underestimate the joy of receiving a handwritten note from a loved one in the post. The excitement of receiving a postcard from somewhere exotic and beautiful never fades. It’s wanderlust in paper form, hence so much better than looking at the same landscape on your friend’s Instagram feed! Plus, postcards always come with thoughtfully written notes that you will want to save for years to come.

These are just a few suggestions that could help you to arrange the perfect gift for your loved ones while you’re travelling overseas. You just need to make sure that you’re organised and buy in advance to ensure everything arrives on time! While you may be away and unable to see them on a face to face basis, you can still ensure that you do something that will bring a smile to their face!
